TRY Rugby  is a developmental rugby league run through Rugby Colorado and USA Youth and High School Rugby. There are 22 TRY clubs from Colorado Springs to Greeley. When participating in TRY and with the Wolfpack your child will be learning a sport that emphasizes safety and fun. Rugby culture by it's nature encourages the highest level of sportsmanship exhibited towards teammates, the opposition and match officials. 

TRY league is built around age grades with player size taken into consideration in playing up or down. Age grades and variations are as follows:

U8

Ages: 5-7, co-ed teams

Weight-35-75 lbs

U8 is co-ed and is a non contact flag version. 

Skills Emphasized:  Basic laws, offensive shape, running, evasion and of course passing and catching. 

U10

Ages: 8-9

Weight: 50-100 lbs. 

U10 is co-ed and is the introduction of tackling. Emphasis is placed on body and head position as well as landing safely when tackled. 3:3 scrums are also introduced at this level. 

Skills Emphasized: Basic laws, defensive structure, running, evasion, passing, catching, and now tackling. 

U12

Ages: 10-11

Weight: 65-130 lbs. 

U12 is co-ed and is the introduction of rucking. Emphasis is placed on safely engaging in the ruck by keeping head up and staying on your feet. Other skills introduced are ripping of the ball from opponents and kicking. Scrums remain 3:3. Lineouts are now contested

Skills Emphasized: Basic laws, defensive structure, running, evasion, passing, catching, rucking, poaching, ripping, kicking. 

Middle School Girls

Ages 12-14

No restrictions

The Middle School Girls division encompasses the full laws of Rugby. All rules with no age grade or size variation are allowed and skills learned at younger groups are refined in preparation for High School Rugby.

Middle School Light/Open

Ages: 12-14

Weight: Light- 95-140 lbs

               Open- No weight restrictions

The light and open divisions encompass the full laws of Rugby. All rules with no age grade variations are allowed and skills learned at younger age groups are refined in preparation for High School Rugby. The Light division is for younger/lighter players or newer players to the game. The Open division is for older/bigger players with more experience.
